This vintage Ferrari 250 GTO is set to become the world’s most expensive car at $56 million

In the world of luxury automobiles, there are expensive cars and then there are Expensive cars. That capital E is there for a reason, this particular car comes with a price tag of a whopping $56 million. You could buy several luxury apartments in the heart of some of the most expensive cities in the world for that price! The pricey set of wheels is actually 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO and it was supposedly the second car to be built on its production line and supposedly one of only 39 ever produced by the company. The 250 GTOs were produced between 1962 and 1964.

The 250 GTO in question has been put on the market by England-based vintage Ferrari seller Talacrest. It also holds the distinction of being the first such car to be raced in the 12 hours of the Sebring race in 1962. “It is a beautiful Ferrari, the Holy Grail of classic cars, and it has a great racing history having finished sixth overall at Le Mans and first in class at Sebring,” Talacrest’s John Collins told The Telegraph. He’s certainly right, the car is painted a beautiful metallic blue with a white racing stripe down the center.

$56 million (the original price is £45 million) may seem like an astronomical price but with so few cars produced and so much demand, there’s little doubt that an enthusiastic collector will be willing to shell out the sum. Collins has told the Telegraph that he has already had one offer for the car and there is bound to be interest from many more potential buyers. If he does in fact succeed in securing the sum, this will become the most expensive car in the world!
