Dubai is building the worlds biggest mall and this one will span over a whopping 100 football fields


Dubai is cementing its status as the shopping capital of the world with the announcement that the city will soon be home to a new shopping mall that’s even larger than the world famous Dubai Mall. The new shopping destination is a project by Dubai Holding and Emaar Properties, it is to be called Dubai Square. Occupying a whopping 30 million square feet, Dubai Square will have dedicated spaces for retail, hospitality and residential areas.


Located in the heart of Dubai Creek Harbour, Dubai Square is an ambitious proposition. They are driving innovation with their principal of ‘omnichannel retailing’, a seamless blend of shopping via desktop, mobile or at a retail store. According to the press release, “the physical and the digital at Dubai Square co-exist in harmony, with stores acting as showrooms for their online presences.” This translates as a the implementation of digital conveniences like custom-designed mobile apps, quick checkout solutions, search and barcode scanning applications, radio-frequency identification technology, mobile payments and click-and-collect services.

You can also expect some of the traditional mall offerings but with a larger-than-life twist. The Square will be home to an entertainment arena -with 3-D projection mapping, theatrical sound and lighting, high wire rigging- to be used for concerts, theater shows, exhibitions etc. Restaurants will span every kind of cuisine and mood with some even offering 3D printed food. You can also expect dedicated art installations, Cineplex, a waterpark, sports arena, supermarket and a metro link.
