Airbnb has created what just could be the ultimate automotive experience as part of its exclusive ‘Icons’ experiential series, not just for hardcore Tifosi, its loyal motorsport fans either. The weekend looks like this: Attend the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix weekend with exclusive VIP paddock access, spend the night at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello hosted by former F1 driver and test driver Marc Gené, dine at the Cavallino restaurant founded by Enzo Ferrari, and get a hot lap at the legendary Fiorano factory test track.
This marks the first time the Ferrari Museum has opened its doors overnight, and certainly the first time anyone’s been allowed to sleep amongst the exhibits. The Museo Ferrari houses some of the brand’s winningest race cars in Formula 1, and as part of the experience lucky guests will spend the night in the Sala delle Vittorie, at the heart of the Ferrari Museum, surrounded by Ferrari’s retired F1 cars.
The bed placed at the center of the exhibit is trimmed in the actual leather used in its classic race cars, in signature Ferrari red. Facing it is a wall chronicling Ferrari’s greatest motorsport achievements across the years — sweet dreams indeed.
A meal at the Cavallino restaurant across from the Ferrari factory is another rarity, especially when the very room where Enzo Ferrari celebrated race victories is where you’ll be dining. The experience is rounded up with a hot lap in a Ferrari 296 GTB, of the Pista di Fiorano, Ferrari’s famed factory test track where all its road cars are put through their paces.
It’s a literal once-in-a-lifetime experience — you have to express your interest in the stay, before Airbnb will randomly select a lucky guest to partake in the experience.
