Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is not just shaping the future of Saudi Arabia; he’s
making sure he lives in it. In May 2024, Luxurylaunches reported on his grand plans to build an imposing palace within the multi-trillion-dollar, 105-mile long Line skyscraper in Neom. Nearly 10 months later, new satellite images obtained by Business Insider confirm that construction has begun on this lavish royal residence. Captured by satellite firm Maxar Technologies in January, the images reveal a sprawling palace on the Red Sea coast in northeastern Saudi Arabia.
A closer look shows a fortress of luxury, complete with private beaches, sprawling gardens, a golf course, and 10 helipads. Details on the palace remain scarce, but Reuters previously reported that one of the earliest Neom contracts awarded included plans for five royal palaces about 105 miles west of Tabuk. Moroccan-style architecture and a marina, perhaps to dock his magnificent Serene superyacht, were also mentioned.
MBS’s extravagant lifestyle is no secret. His holiday home, the Château Louis XIV near Paris, is a $300 million masterpiece considered one of the most expensive residences in the world. Spanning 57 acres, it boasts 10 bedrooms, grand reception halls, a private cinema, two ballrooms, a nightclub, an aquarium, and even a wine cellar with space for 3,000 bottles.
Then there’s Serene, his $400 million floating palace, which houses the world’s most expensive painting, Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi, acquired for $450 million.
The 439-foot vessel features a saltwater swimming pool, a climbing wall, a submarine, and two helipads. As the mastermind behind Neom, Saudi Arabia’s $1.5 trillion leap into the future, MBS was never going to settle for anything less than a residence befitting his vision. Just as Neom has defied imagination, his palace within it is poised to redefine royal opulence.
