Audemars Piguet has revealed a new limited-edition Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in collaboration with American hip-hop artist Travis Scott’s label, Cactus Jack. The collaborative piece is the first AP model to be presented in brown ceramic, a nod to Cactus Jack’s signature colorway. In fact, it is “The chocolate AP” that Travis Scott mentions in his latest album. Until now, black was the only option for the openworked version of the Royal Oak Perpetual. However, the unprecedented color of the ceramic case is just one of the many special things the limited edition timepiece features.
Preserving the model’s signature silhouette, the brown ceramic case measures 41mm and also retains the traditional eight white gold hexagonal screws on the bezel. The dial of the Travis Scott x Audemars Piguet Chocolate Brown Royal Oak gets a lot of bespoke design elements. The layout and the indications are similar to what you find on the regular Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked. Still, you’ll quickly notice that the design details of the dial are unique. The most obvious of them is the design of the moon phase at 6 o’clock; the usual moon phase is replaced by Cactus Jack’s emblematic smiley face. The sapphire dial reveals the mesmerizing openworked Caliber 5135; the delicately finished movement features rhodium and pink hold-hued components.
The sapphire caseback of the limited edition timepiece is engraved with “Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar” and “Utopia is a state of mind.” Also unique to the watch is a new textured calfskin strap, which comes engraved with both Maison and Travis Scott’s signatures and gets a pink gold folding clasp to match. Only 200 examples of the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked “Cactus Jack” Limited Edition will be made, each priced at CHF 178,000 (a little more than $ 200,000).
