The longstanding partnership between IWC and Mercedes-AMG was launched back in 2004, making it one of the longest-running in the watch industry. To celebrate the 17 years long alliance based on a shared interest in performance engineering, the two brands have collaborated on a new Pilot’s Chronograph 43 mm with a titanium case – a first in the brand’s Pilot’s Watch collection. “IWC Schaffhausen and Mercedes-AMG share both a passion for performance and design, as well as a commitment to engineering excellence down to the smallest detail. The timepiece is crafted out of materials from automotive engineering and is commonly used to construct Mercedes-AMG performance cars. The lightweight and scratch-resistant Grade 5 titanium used for the case has a distinct matte grey appearance which is said to be inspired by AMG’s signature Selenite Grey Magno paint finish. On the other hand, the dial is made of carbon fiber which has been directly derived from AMG’s aero components. The silver chronograph sub-dials contrast the woven texture of the carbon fiber dial, and the combination is reminiscent of motorsport instruments. Powering the watch is the IWC-manufactured caliber 69385 that offers a column-wheel chronograph for hours, minutes, seconds, date and day display, and small hacking seconds for precision time setting. The Mercedes-AMG logo can be found on the tinted sapphire crystal case back, while the watch is fitted with a black embossed calf leather strap with contrast stitching and a folding clasp that matches the theme timepiece. The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition AMG is priced at $9,100 and is available now via IWC and its authorized dealers.
