With their new GMT watches, Louis Vuitton is taking their watchmaking tradition in a new and exciting direction. These watches are masculine, elegant and modern even without the bells and whistles that accompany most luxury watches today. Called the GMT Voyager, this watch features a new case shape that’s not quite circular. The bold “V” in the center of the watch is the original V motif created by Gaston-Louis Vuitton representing both ‘voyager’ and ‘Vuitton.’
The watch case is thinner with satin-finished sides that contrast with the polished top and bottom. The dial is also satin finished with the “v” motif at the center which connects the indices at 9 and 3 o clock. Below the v is another time display that indicates the time with different colors for day and night.
Louis Vuitton has crafted supple Taurillon leather straps that are slightly grained for this watch, however steel bracelets are also available. Choose from grey or anthracite dials with black leather or steel straps or take a different route with the 18-carat pink gold case with navy blue dial and matching alligator strap.
The watch will be available come June with prices starting at $5,700 for the 41.5mm steel version.
