Tiffany & Co. just became a tad bit more terrific with their latest offering—the breathtaking Tiffany & Co. Bird on a Flying Tourbillon watch. A piece of the past is paving the way for the future as the timepiece stars Asian cockatoos from Jean Schlumberger’s iconic jeweled Bird on a Rock brooch in the first flying tourbillon watch. After two years of development, the horological craftsmanship has unfolded, and the world has stopped to ogle at the diamond-set avians.
The dial is predictably a Tiffany Blue canvas comprising cloud-shaped slices of natural turquoise. It poses as the perfect sky for two 18k white gold diamond-set birds in flight (a total of 147 diamonds), interrupted only by the moon-like diamond-studded subdial comprising 168 diamonds. What’s unexpected, though, is the flying tourbillon at 7 o’clock, set with one diamond under a hand-faceted sapphire crystal dome—another feat by Tiffany & Co. It playfully rotates along with the tourbillon.
The bespoke movement, Caliber AFT24T01, is the brainchild of Swiss haute horlogerie manufacture Artime, comprising 205 components, with a power reserve of 60 hours. The Tiffany & Co. Bird on a Flying Tourbillon watch comes in a 39 mm white gold case and is set with 848 diamonds totaling 3.9 carats.
This stellar example of horological talent comes with a complementing alligator strap fastened with an 18k white gold T buckle also set with 49 round brilliant diamonds. The fantastic timepiece will only be produced in a limited edition of 25 pieces.
