Last month, Vacheron Constantin revealed a new single-piece edition called the Les Cabinotiers Dual Moon Grand Complication. The double-sided timepiece is an absolute horological behemoth thanks to its extremely technical and sophisticated movement that features no less than 11 time-related and astronomical complications, which include a minute repeater, a perpetual calendar, precision moon phases, and a sky chart. Focusing on perfect legibility, the one-of-a-kind timepiece highlights Maison’s never-ending quest for aesthetic elegance and purity. Paying tribute to Earth’s natural satellite, the highlight of the watch is the central moon phase indication – a rarity in the watchmaking world – which acts as the centerpiece of the front dial.
The precision double moon-phase display with its age is complemented by the hours, minutes, and perpetual calendar indications, which is notably distinguished by its retrograde date – a Vacheron Constantin technical and aesthetic signature. All the astronomical indications appear on the reverse side of the timepiece with the time of the sidereal day and an awe-inspiring sky chart that shows the position of the constellations in real time. The reverse side of the watch also features an aperture that reveals the tourbillon and its Maltese cross-shaped carriage.
Incorporating a minute repeater chiming the hours, quarters, and minutes on demand, the ultra-complex timepiece is powered by a new manually-wound Calibre 2755 TMRCCQP movement. The 774-component movement is a horological masterpiece and offers a power reserve of 58 hours. It is housed inside a rhodium-plated 18K white gold that has a diameter of 46mm. The bespoke Vacheron Constantin is worn on a dark blue hand-stitched Mississippiensis alligator leather strap with an 18K white gold folding clasp. The price is upon request.
