Take a look at the Hermes spring and summer 2019 collection

Recently we witnessed the Hermes spring and summer 2019 show that took place at the Hippodrome de Longchamp horse-racing track in Paris. And apart from having our minds blown, the show brought to our notice just how eloquently the brand maintained its composure between the tussle of casualness versus chic, while setting new standards in redefining ‘athleisure’.

In bringing back the old in an all-new charm, the show kickstarted with notes that said, “We sail into the horizon, along the edge between two worlds, between the sky and land. And in the same moment, we are sailing on the sea. Words break together on the shore: Sailor or saddler? We turn them every which way … Why choose between them?” And true to each work spoken, the runway featured a line-up of minimalist tops and dresses trimmed in leather, a horse-groomer’s apron for dresses, jumpsuits and tops with boating ropes and bridle-bit adornments fastened on them and more.

Accessories included bags in assortments of shape and size such as leather buckets, slouchy suede hobos, mini-shapes with bolted closures and wide camera straps. Although seamlessly done, some pieces, specially the zip-front jumpsuits and leather jackets worked to blur the gender lines with unisex shout for all! The collection also boasted daring colors contrasts with the raspberry papery jumpsuit and the turquoise parka, amongst an otherwise dominant neutral color palette. Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski, take a bow for this one!
