Elizabeth Taylor’s custom Rolls Royce convertible could now be yours for an estimated price of $3.5 million

Those with a penchant for thy wheels know well enough of the stature that Elizabeth Taylor’s green Rolls Royce holds. Also dubbed as the “Green Goddess”, the iconic custom convertible is now being offered for sale at the Pierre Hotel in Midtown next month. It is expected to fetch anywhere over $3.5 million and is rightly touted as a piece of history worth owing.

The emerald green 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II convertible is said to be in perfectly mint condition with seats also dyed a similar color. Guernsey’s Auction founder Arlan Ettinger, who is selling the car, said, “Just as a vehicle, this car is worth roughly $600,000 to $700,000. There were only 20 convertibles made and it is much rarer and much more valuable than a sedan.” He further added, “Unlike Elvis Presley who would sometimes buy a car in the morning and give it away to a friend that afternoon, Taylor owned this car for 20 years and she really became associated with it,”

Apparently, the film legend is said to have ordered the coveted Rolls shortly after her 1959 wedding to singer Eddie Fisher took place. It was then delivered to the Pierre Hotel (the same place where it now stands to be auctioned) in 1960 where, the pair were living at the time. In addition to the 1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II convertible, the auction to be held on August 16, will also offer Taylor’s Versace dress and Louboutin evening bag for sale.
