Superyacht Royal Romance will soon find a new owner as the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) of Ukraine announced that Dutch auction house Troostwijk Auctions will spearhead the sale of the 303-foot-long seized luxury vessel. The decision regarding the Feadship beauty, commissioned by Russian businessman Viktor Medvedchuk, was made by vote during a meeting of the Commission on April 23. Royal Romancex was seized in Croatia in March 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine, and possession was recently transferred to Ukraine.
This moment marks not only a historic and groundbreaking occasion but also a very rare instance of a seized luxury vessel gaining a new lease on life. Auctioning a seized superyacht is no easy task, as demonstrated by the failed sale of the seized Alfa Nero superyacht. Additionally, this marks the first time that a seized asset will serve and contribute to the benefit of Ukraine.
While the most expensive boat currently being auctioned by Troostwijk Auctions has a price of $110,000, the glorious Royal Romance Yacht is estimated to be worth upwards of $200 million. It will be interesting to see how the Dutch auction house that sells everything from forklifts to aluminium smelter plants manages to garner interest to sell a 303 feet long luxury yacht.
This pleasure craft, delivered by Feadship in 2015, spans six stories with two elevators to help guests and owners maneuver through the gigantic boat. Among its noteworthy features is a massive 39-foot swimming pool, with an eye-catching waterfall flowing over the stern.
The ship boasts an unheard-of 50 multipurpose rooms across its six floors and four decks, out of which 7 are guest cabins for 14 guests. A wellness area complete with a gym, salon, and spa helps owners unwind, while a movie theater keeps them endlessly entertained. As far as the upcoming auction is concerned, no final date or estimate has been revealed yet.
