The Paris mint collaborated with Dior with a 2kg gold coin and now its hitting the auction block


In a first of its kind, The Paris Mint, Dior, and Sotheby’s have joined forces for an auction that is scheduled to take place on March 2, 2022. The highlight of the collaboration is Miss Dior, the first of Christian Dior’s perfumes that has been transformed for the first time into a unique two-kilogram gold coin.

Designed by Joaquin Jimenez, who is the general engraver of the Monnaie de Paris, the coin is made from the Miss Dior fragrance that is emblazoned with a whole lot of details. It features the iconic houndstood pattern, the dagger knot, and roses, along with a host of other intricate details.

Presented in a showcase shaped like a sewing box, this is the first-ever two-kilo gold single-issue coin that is being offered at auction. It is further special as it bears the model of one of the most revered and the very first fragrance created by Christian Dior. The coin will be displayed in the public eye from February 21 to 28, 2022, before it goes under the hammer.

It will be auctioned at Sotheby’s in March for an estimated price between $ 2,28,677 – 3,43,015 (approximately). The sale (which is part of the auction house’s first Luxury Week of 2022, known as Re(LUX), will benefit the association Fleurs d’Exception du Pays de Grasse, which is mainly focused on preserving and promoting floral productions and supporting young farmers.
