30 year old Emma Watson is now a director in the $65 billion luxury fashion conglomerate Kering

Harry Potter’s most loved character Hermoine Granger has been known as an over-achiever. The same can be said about Emma Watson who not only lived out the character with supreme flair she actually imbibed her qualities. She dons several hats and has found a new, most fashionable hat to wear as she continues to excel and grow! Adding to her accomplishments in her latest achievement of gaining a prestigious position in the board directors of French fashion giant Kering, owner of the Gucci label. Kering has faced criticism over its sustainability record to while rival LVMH kept scoring on that accord. Watson is a well-known supporter of eco-friendly fashion, and her heading Kering’s sustainability committee will make all the difference to their rep and following actions. She along with Jean Liu (president- Didi Chuxing), Tidjane Thiam ( former CEO of Credit Suisse Group) was appointed as Directors by the board of directors and shareholders during their Annual General Meeting on June 16th. Kering oversees brands such as Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Brioni, Boucheron, Pomellato, DoDo, Qeelin, Ulysse Nardin, Girard-Perregaux, as well as Kering Eyewear. While she is no expert on the subject of sustainability, Emma has been championing sustainable fashion for years and she is the face of the mobile app Good On You, which guides consumers to check the sustainability credentials of the fashion brands they’re buying. Funnily Kering doesn’t have the best rating here which consolidates her position to better the position of Kering in this aspect.

Kering chairman and CEO François-Henri Pinault said, “Their respective knowledge and competences, and the multiplicity of their backgrounds and perspectives will be invaluable additions,”
