While Bill Gates enforced a no-phone rule with his kids, Jeff Bezos has a similar policy with his stunning fiancée, Lauren, though for an entirely different reason

There’s no question that a disciplined lifestyle is key to success. Take any of the world’s wealthiest individuals, and you’ll find a common theme: a life built around intentional routines. Bill Gates, for instance, is known for advocating a strict no-phone policy. In fact, Gates revealed in an interview with The Mirror that his children were not allowed to have smartphones until they turned 14. Furthermore, gadgets are off-limits at the dinner table. Interestingly, another centibillionaire, Amazon co-founder Jeff Bezos, also has a similar rule, not for his children, but for his ladylove, Lauren Sánchez.

For Gates, this policy is about parenting and instilling discipline, but Bezos implements the rule for the sake of quality time and romance. The fiancée of the world’s second richest man described that time of their day as a “magic moment,” spent wisely not for scrolling social media or indulging in gossip, but for genuine connection. Sometimes rules can be beneficial, and Bezos’ rule is indeed a recipe for the duo to set the tone for the day.

“My favorite part of the day is the morning,” Sánchez, 54, told People in an interview. She added, “The kids haven’t woken up yet. And we don’t get on our phones. That’s one of the rules.” Another sweet arrangement between the helicopter pilot and the tech tycoon is that whoever wakes up first makes the coffee.

Another sweet detail between the helicopter pilot and tech tycoon? Whoever wakes up first makes the coffee. For most couples, this might be standard, but then again, Bezos isn’t your typical partner. Worth $223 billion, the Amazon founder is the man behind the $2.19 trillion company, yet he’s learned to prioritize moments that matter.
