Money doesn’t make people, people make money! With that thought in mind, Jurassic Park star Jeff Goldblum proclaimed his kids Charlie, 8, and River, 6 won’t inherit his $40 million fortune and will have to row their own boat when they grow up. That wasn’t all he said, the 71-year-old actor added, “It’s an important thing to teach kids. I’m not going to do it for you. And you’re not going to want me to do it for you. You’ve got to figure out how to find out what’s wanted and needed and where that intersects with your love and passion and what you can do. And even if it doesn’t, you might have to do that anyway.”

Goldblum, who shares his children with wife Emilie Livingston, is adamant about letting his offspring find their own path in life just like he did turning his childhood dream of becoming an actor into a reality.

Speaking about his family in 2018, Goldblum told British outlet iNews, “It feels great to do it right now because all the things I’m considering are perfectly suited to the big questions and challenges of having kids, and what you want to expose them to.” He added, “What you want to leave them with, what life is, and what kind of life you contribute to them.”

The Hollywood actor isn’t alone when it comes to not leaving a hefty inheritance for kids. Hollywood celebrities like Daniel Craig, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, or Shaquille O’Neal, the former Lakers center, all are on the same page on their take of not leaving their fortunes to their children. The Jurassic World: Dominion actor became a father much later in life which may ordinarily tempt one to spoil the kids rotten but it is not his way. While he admitted it is an amazing, and revivifying, experience that even enhanced his relationship with Emilie, he wasn’t afraid to admit that parenting is one tough job. Guess it is decisions like these that make it challenging but the results are indeed fruitful.
