Bezos gave 400 million Amazon shares to MacKenzie Scott as part of their divorce settlement. Here is what all Lauren Sanchez would get if she were to divorce and walk away from Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos got married to Lauren Sánchez, among much fanfare in Venice. He garnered global attention, aside from protests and tons of admirers who fawned over his near-perfect wife, Lauren Sánchez, and her parade of couture ensembles. According to sources, the world’s fourth-richest man spent $40 million on the three-day extravaganza involving the VVIPs of the business and entertainment world.

For a man worth $235 billion, the $40 million affair was little more than a rounding error, lavish, yes, but hardly extravagant by Bezos’ standards. Imagine the shock when the same people learn that’s more or less what 55-year-old Mrs. Bezos will get if things go south.

The helicopter pilot signed a prenuptial agreement worth nearly $60 million (For Bezos, spending $60 million is like someone with $1,000 parting with 26 cents). According to TGcom24, the agreement signed is top secret, although some details have been revealed. According to the weekly magazine “Oggi,” the document was compared to “a legal fortress to make the assets of the world’s fourth-richest man unassailable. It’s not a simple separation of assets, but their total disappearance. It will set a precedent.”

And if history is any indicator, Bezos knows the high price of heartbreak; his split from MacKenzie Scott ranks among the most expensive divorces ever recorded in history. He divorced MacKenzie Scott in early April 2019, ending their 25-year marriage. Scott received about 25 percent of the couple’s Amazon holdings, a whopping 400 million shares valued at roughly $35–36 billion, while Bezos retained the remaining 75 percent along with all voting control. Amazon’s market capitalization was approximately $916.15 billion at the end of 2019, and it had risen to around $2 trillion by July 2025, proving the stakes are higher this time.

Having said that, while Sánchez happily signed the agreement, per sources, the fact is that the 61-year-old tycoon has indeed treated her like a princess. The world is her oyster with the $500 million Koru and her helicopter-carrying $75 million Abeona at her constant disposal. She sports the most exquisite luxury labels and can bathe in diamonds if she desires to.

On land, Bezos boasts a real estate empire worth nearly $1 billion. Now all they have to do is keep the love alive and the marriage going, for the other side isn’t this pretty or posh.
