Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell refashion the Adidas Stan Smith shoe for a charity auction

The iconic Adidas tennis shoe has undergone an auction-worthy revamp, thanks to fashion icons Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. Joining the charitable posse of these two illustrious ladies are Boy George, Sir Elton John, and Kylie Minogue, all of who have doused their pristine white Stan Smiths in veritable trainer art. These out-and-out artsy pieces are ready to play online footsy with interested buyers at a minimum bid of $300 a pair.

While Naomi’s version has its trainer tongues gushing ‘God’ with images of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary and two golden skeleton legs enhancing the shoe’s sacramental twist, Kate’s is a simplistically modern rendition that glows neon in her name’s alphabets. “(Kate’s design) emulates recent works of many contemporary artists,” enthuses Platform 6, the non-profit art organization hosting the auction. Minogue, however, emerges mistress of bling, with her paraphernalia-bedecked offering. The pumped-up kicks, 20 in total, will remain on display in London’s Bargehouse till September 14, auction-end.

Formed for the benefit of civil rights charity Stonewall, the initiative does as much for the faded glory of the Stan Smith shoe, after the 1970s tennis star, which now has a 2014 comeback in the offing.
