Marc Jacobs continues its Gatsby social media romance with the Daisy Marc Jacobs Tweet Shop where shoppers can buy products via ‘social currency’. Next week, the luxury fashion house will open the doors to its money-free pop-up in Manhattan, where customers will able to trade their tweets, Facebook and Instagram posts into in-store credit to receive fragrance, manicures, coffees or handbags.
There will be no monetary transaction at the Daisy Marc Jacobs Tweet shop. To shop, customers will instead be encouraged to tweet using hashtag #MJDaisyChain. You are in for bigger stakes if you also tweet a picture. Plus, the most creative
tweet every day will receive a Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag. The pop-up store will also offer a social media oriented lounge where customers will be able to enjoy drinks, a nail bar, photo booth and a DJ set by Hana Hanra. It will, most importantly, include free Wi-Fi so get your phones and tablets out and start #tweeting.
Marc Jacobs created a similar pop-up store in New York during fashion week earlier this year. Flash sales are a massive evolution that the fashion industry has witnessed and fostered merely within last few years.
The pop-up shop is open from 15-17 August, from 10am-8pm on Friday/Saturday and on Sunday 10pm-6pm at the 4 East Piazza, Covent Garden, London WC2E 8HD.
