Valentino unveils a new spin on shoes with crochet sneakers in woven fabric – Each pair takes 10 hours to make

From mushroom leather to recycled plastic – we’ve seen shoes being manufactured in variety of materials. But in a first of sorts, Valentino Garavani has unveiled a crochet sneaker that is made out of woven fabric. Yes, that’s right!

Designed by Pier Paolo Piccioli, the shoe is available in four colors – Yellow, Orange Zest, Black, and Grey. It features an intricate series of knots in a rounded cord with a handmade upper woven with tubular fabric ribbons. The sneaker comes with a Suede label with the Valentino Garavani rubber logo on the tongue and the VLogo Signature detail on the heel.

Crafted with utmost precision in Italy, each pair is a product of over 10 hours, 88 needles, and 100 meters of wire. It was first seen at the Valentino Collezione Milano SS21 fashion show and is an experimental take on shoe aesthetics at best.

The Valentino Garavani crochet sneaker in the woven fabric is currently available for sale online (on the brand’s official website) for $ 1230 (inclusive of applicable taxes and fees). Fancy a new addition to your shoe collection?
