While most of us are still trying to grasp what NFTs are all about, brands are quickly harping onto the massive opportunity that the virtual art world presents. And the latest to join the club is Hennessy with its all-new Cognac NFT collection.
A first for the marquee, the non-fungible token (NFT) collection has been introduced in partnership with BlockBar – a platform that collects one-of-a-kind digital assets from luxury liquor brands. It includes s two Hennessy–8 NFTs numbered 1/250 and 250/250 that mark the age of the distillery.
Available in physical as well as digital form, the duo of NFTs each come with an intricate commemorative sculpture, an oak stave chest with a bejeweled key designed by Arik Levy and sourced from the Hennessy cooperage, special tasting glasses designed by glassmaker Georg Riedel and Hennessy’s former master blender Yann Fillioux, a pipette and cork holder, and a commemorative plate.
Commenting on it, Hennessy, in a press release, stated, “Crafted using one eau-de-vie from eight generations of Hennessy Master Blenders, Hennessy–8 embodies 250 years of excellence. “The Maison’s first NFT offering, valued at $225K, will allow one lucky individual the opportunity to own a remarkable piece of history, along with the option to engrave a personalized message on the carafes and visit to the Hennessy estate in Cognac.”
