The best vacations bring three things to the table: peacefulness, privacy, and the opportunity to do very little! The adventurous souls may seek something thrilling on every holiday but then there are people who just love to soak in the sun, the never-failing nature, and spend every second indulging in the scenic beauty of island life. For those who are seeking such rejuvenation on their next trip, Como Cocoa Island is an understated private island resort in the Maldives, which is an ideal escape from everyday woes. Of the 34 overwater villas the property offers, the Dhoni Loft Water Villa is certainly the one that captured our attention. Unlike regular suites, we have come across in several properties; this one is uniquely shaped like a traditional ‘dhoni’ fishing boat. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water divide the villa into an expansive lower level living area and a master bedroom on the mezzanine making it a perfect pick for holidays planned with family. The living room is commodious with lovely white interiors and a splash of soothing blue hues in nooks and corners. There’s no better way to spend your time here than relaxing on the private sundeck with loungers touching the ocean. The master bedroom looks right out of an island fairytale with comforting white linens, a big bed that one would never want to leave, and a textured gable roof that lends ample character to the space.
The Dhoni Loft Water Villas certainly invite the outside space in with unmatched openness that shines through owing to the skillfully done interior design; an ideal combination of comfort, sun, unreal blue waters, and fun. Como Cocoa Island, known locally as Makunufushi, is located among South Malé’s coral atolls and is easily accessible via a speedboat transfer from the international airport in Malé.
