Asia’s wealthiest man, Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries, recently inaugurated Mumbai’s ultimate luxury destination, Jio World Plaza, located in the heart of the city. Spanning an impressive 750,000 square feet, Jio World Plaza is home to 66 luxury brands and boasts the world’s largest passenger elevator. This five-stop elevator can effortlessly accommodate 200 passengers in a single ride.
During this grand event, Anant Ambani, the youngest scion of the billionaire family, demonstrated his exceptional taste. He graced the opening of India’s largest luxury mall, adorned with a symbol of opulence – the Panthère De Cartier Brooch. The Maison Cartier is a prominent presence within the upscale Jio World Plaza mall, marking its second store in India.
The Panthère de Cartier brooch, crafted in white gold, is part of a limited series of 56 exquisite pieces, each celebrating the feline’s centennial edition. This iconic piece has been worn by numerous celebrities worldwide, available in various poses, moods, and jeweled configurations. Anant Ambani’s choice featured six emeralds, 21 onyx spots, a single onyx nose, and a dazzling array of 453 brilliant-cut diamonds, totaling 3.26 carats, with an approximate value of nearly $220,000, per Cartier.
Anant Ambani appears to have a penchant for the majestic Cartier panther, as he had previously adorned a bejeweled feline brooch on another special occasion earlier this year. The ardent watch enthusiast got engaged to his childhood friend, Radhika Merchant, and complemented his attire for the occasion with another Panthère de Cartier brooch, this time made of platinum, adorned with diamonds, and featuring rosettes made of cabochon-cut onyx.
Deepthi Sasidharan, a well-known art historian, took to Instagram to shed light on the history of this exquisite brooch. She explained, “Cartier Panther brooches are typically crafted in platinum or gold, with their bodies adorned with brilliant diamonds. The panther’s rosettes are meticulously crafted from cabochon-cut onyx, and its nose is fashioned from black onyx. The mesmerizing eyes are created using pear-shaped emeralds.” In addition to his affinity for Cartier, the 28-year-old Anant, who heads the energy businesses of Reliance Industries, possesses an impressive collection of timepieces in true billionaire style.
