3000 diamonds, 300 scrupulous hours, and nearly a hundred years later, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Reverso Secret Necklace brings oomph and allure to the infallible Reverso

Reverso Secret Necklace, a dazzling result of the marriage between high jewelry and fine watchmaking, was unveiled at the Watches & Wonders 2023 salon. The Maison has reinterpreted the classic Reverso as a magnificent art deco-inspired piece of High Jewellery- a sautoir brimming with vivid gems and oomph. The iconic black textile bracelet of the 1930s dons a more intricate avatar involving a supple chain of complex diamond-set links and polished onyx beads, holding the gem-clad Reverso. The romantic iteration ends with two stylized pendants of glossy onyx charms, enhancing the striking timepiece and the novel way of wearing the time.

As the name gives away, the Reverso Secret Necklace is sheathing a detail behind the gem-set cover. The twist to the tale is the swiveling case of the Reverso that can be turned around to tell the time. Before you look for flaws in this timeless, graceful creation, we would like to add the dial is set to be upside-down so one can tell time naturally by lifting the watch.

God lies in the details-
The pink gold case of the Reverso Secret Necklace is intricately set with white diamonds and black onyx. The geometric pattern duplicates to display a kaleidoscope of design and dazzle. The dial models rows of grain-set diamonds on the center, corners, and frame. The cordonnet pays homage to Jaeger-LeCoultre artistry as each tiny element, or link, is hand set with diamonds to form a supple chain. The Reverso Secret Necklace glistens owing to 3000 diamonds totaling 20 carats.

The necklace drips in diamonds right from the chain, the clasp, right to the top and bottom of the case made of pink gold on a background of black onyx—no wonder the par excellence Reverso Secret Necklace required over 300 hours of painstaking work. The meticulous process commanded exceptional skill and dexterity, the gift of experience, and unmatched craftwork afforded by luxury brands like Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Prepossessing and purposeful-
The richly gem-set Reverso brings an air of mystique, romanticism, and a secret power of time-telling until the wearer reveals it. It packs time-telling in a sheath of diamonds that disguises the manually-wound Calibre 846 within a stunning Art Deco case. “The intricate diamond-set links and polished onyx beads transform the Reverso design into a feminine necklace, while the hidden time-telling watch adds a touch of mystery and character,” shared Lionel Favre, Head Of Design.

The movement comprising 93 parts, was produced entirely in-house and was created mainly for the Reverso. The necklace length is 80cm circle of onyx beads and diamond-set links and 55cm length from the clasp to the tips of the charms. The limited edition necklace boasts a power reserve of 38 hours. Compliments to Jaeger-LeCoultre for maintaining its watertight philosophy of product integrity and following the contours of the rectangular case, even in a magnificent example like the Reverso Secret Necklace.
