Three is company too, and utterly delightful if it’s Jaeger-LeCoultre’s latest Rendez-Vous Sonatina series featuring three new timepieces. Limited to ten pieces, the “Peaceful Nature” trilogy flaunts the master craftsmanship of the luxury brand through miniature painting, lacquer work, and gem setting. Presenting the Crane, the Kingfisher, and the Koi in supreme settings of nature boasting an inimitable Japanese style achieved through Métiers d’Arts techniques. What is shared between the three watches is an 18K pink gold case measuring 38.2 mm in diameter, flaunting 160 diamonds on the case band and bezel. What sets them apart are the intricate details managed only by a master craftsman of Jaeger-LeCoultre.
The Koi watch includes an enchanting black canvas–of-a-dial enhanced by the bright orange koi swimming in a blue pond with a rippling surface beneath a willow tree. It wouldn’t be wrong to call The Koi an out-and-out romantic watch. The Crane takes a more vibrant path with a deep blue-green lacquer dial. The cynosure is the auspicious Crane hovering over the pine tree, its wings syncing beautifully with the dial layout. The Kingfisher is the most poetic iteration of the Peaceful Nature trilogy, where a little bird perched on the edge of the dial steals your heart.
The delicate golden star marks the time of a special rendezvous or meeting, which can be moved into position by a second crown set in the side of the case, according to JLC. The presence of a Quince tree symbolizes longevity and renewal.
All timepieces sport oversized Arabic numerals in typical JLC fashion with the self-winding Caliber 735 movement. It powers a chiming complication and day/night indicator explicitly developed for the Sonatina. The masterpieces of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Peaceful Nature” trilogy are available only at Jaeger-LeCoultre; the price is on request.
