For golfers who think their $150,000 Mercedes-Benz G-Class could get lost in the sea of luxury vehicles in the country club parking lot, there’s an electric G-Class that could be the answer. The China-made Bodo G-Wagon is a gold cart on steroids, with a caramel-coloured interior to boot.
There’s one listed on Mecum Auctions at the moment but the Bodo G-Wagon golf cart is said to have cost $21,900 when new. Which is a lot of money for a golf cart, but probably worth it to the right customer looking to stand out on the greens.
That money buys you a scaled-down G-Class lookalike packing a 15kWh motor and 10kWh lithium battery good for 80 miles of range on a charge and a 35mph top speed.
More importantly, it also packs seating and entertainment for four passengers, heating and air-conditioning to take care of all conditions out on the course. The golf cart has power steering and disc brakes at all four corners, even if that does seem like overkill. Similarly, the twin LCD screens at the rear are far from a necessity.
While it does look cool, that’s only from a distance. Up close the Chinese heritage is quite apparent. Now is over $20,000 something you’d want to pay for a non-road legal golf cart? Well, if you’re asking the question, maybe you’re not the target audience for this G-Wagon golf cart in the first place.
