Maintaining the $3 million Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar is so expensive that it’s cheaper to buy an apartment in the heart of Manhattan than to service the car for 3 years.”

When high-net-worth people pay millions of dollars to buy a limited-production hypercar, they’re prepared to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars for the upkeep of their prized possessions. While the service costs of all hypercars are ridiculously high, the numbers are simply outrageous for some of them. According to a Bloomberg report, the deep-pocketed buyers of the $3 million-plus Aston Martin Valkyrie might have to pay close to $450,000 in service costs over three years of ownership. Just to put that into context, you can buy yourself a 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a Taycan with that money and still have enough cash left to spend on track days.

Valkyrie owners who choose not to get their hypercars serviced through the British luxury car maker risk losing the warranty cover, which could end up being a lot more expensive if something goes wrong. However, the marque also offers a slightly cheaper service plan, which will bring down the cost to $340,000 over the same three-year period, Bloomberg reports. The exceptionally high cost of maintenance is attributed to a team of motor-sport engineers to maintain the hypercar, according to an Aston Martin spokesman. “We offer a range of highly specialized service plans for the car, aligned to the bespoke requirements and specific usage of our Valkyrie customers,” the spokesman said. In comparison, the cost of maintaining a Bugatti Veyron for four years comes to about $170,000. A four-year extended warranty for the French hypercar, which covers everything except tires, is priced at close to $200,000.
