Rolls-Royce has introduced a new limited-edition version of the Ghost called Prism, which is said to be “inspired by the world of contemporary design.” The new special edition is limited to just 120 examples to honor the legendary British luxury automaker’s 120th anniversary. According to Rolls-Royce, the Ghost Prism “showcases flawlessly finished dark, neutral tones which are subtly accented with bold strokes of color.” The example seen in the official pictures features a Gunmetal grey exterior with a “rich mineral finish,” which is claimed to be achieved through a ten-step process. Four layers of paint are required to be applied, and then the paint is polished by hand for 16 hours.
While the buyers can choose to have their Ghost Prism finished in any color of their choice, Rolls-Royce is offering four accents to choose from, which include Phoenix Red, Turchese, Mandarin, and Forge Yellow. The accent color is applied to the lower bumper trim, brake calipers, and painted coachline that runs along the shoulder line of the luxury sedan. Furthermore, the chrome grille and rear-lid brightwork on the Ghost Prism have been swapped for trim in a smoky finish called Burnout.
Rolls-Royce says each metal piece has to be hand-prepped and individually polished to achieve the finish. There isn’t much information on the interior, except for the accent color, which is carried inside the cabin and appears alongside the Starlight headliner featuring 1040 colored stars.
“Ghost Prism is an extension of the personal aesthetic of a specific subset from this group of tastemakers. The motor car’s innovative use of dark, neutral tones with subtle impulses of color, places it firmly within the contemporary luxury landscape. Our clients are experts and connoisseurs who know exactly what they want; Ghost Prism celebrates the unique relationship we have with them,” said the brand’s director of design, Anders Warming.
The Rolls-Royce Ghost is mechanically identical to the regular model, which is powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine that is capable of producing 563 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. The uber-luxury sedan can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds despite weighing 2.5 tons. The British marque has not revealed the pricing, but we expect it to be substantially higher than the Ghost’s starting price of $354,750.
