Do you remember the one of one Bugatti La Voiture Noir that debuted at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show? The most exclusive modern Bugatti made headlines for being the most expensive new car ever with a price tag of around $18.5 million (taxes included). Rumors suggested that it was purchased by none other than soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, which turned out to be not true. It’s been two years since and the one-off Bugatti’s ownership has still been a total mystery. However, the Bugatti La Voiture Noir was recently captured on video being unloaded from a delivery truck in London. So, do we finally have the answer on who paid $18.5 million for the bespoke Bugatti? Well, no!
As it turns out, the Bugatti that can be seen in the video posted on the popular YouTube channel TheTFJJ is the same prototype of the La Voiture Noir that was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show two years ago. The same concept car was showcased in a massive display in Molsheim, the company’s hometown, in 2020. This time around, the prototype model is in London for promoting ‘La Bouteille Noire’ by Champagne Carbon, as claimed by Motor1. The one-off champagne bottle made out of carbon fiber was created by the brand to celebrate the creation of Bugatti La Voiture Noir.
As a part of the promotional exercise, the Bugatti La Voiture Noir has been placed in a beautiful display box at London’s Leicester Square. Although there’s no official confirmation, the automotive artwork might be on display at the location till the end of the holiday season. In case you’re wondering about the actual Bugatti La Voiture Noir, it turns out that the car has already been delivered to its owner, and we might never find out who that person is. Nevertheless, we do know a little about the one-off hypercar and things that justify its colossal price tag.
The Bugatti La Voiture Noir is a modern interpretation of Jean Bugatti’s personal Type 57 SC Atlantic that got lost during World War II. The bespoke model gets a handcrafted carbon fiber body that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before from the Molsheim-based manufacturer. Everything about the La Voiture Noir is truly special, including its unique wheels that have a very interesting 3D design. It uses the same quad-turbo W16 8.0-liter engine with 1,500 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque as the Chiron, Chiron Sport, and Divo. However, its title as the world’s most expensive new car was recently grabbed by the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail that is priced at a whopping $28 million.
