The Bugatti Mistral is one hell of a sendoff for the iconic quad-turbo W16 engine, with the Bugatti Tourbillon’s all-new V16 taking over the reins for the hypercar brand that collectors love. The Mistral is Bugatti’s roadster supreme with 1,578 horsepower, based on the impressive Chiron. The Mistral also marks the last variant of the Chiron nameplate, and the first time the Chiron platform is being offered in a roadster form.
Only 99 were set to be made, and all were sold out even before the Mistral was publicly unveiled. Though US-based owners have already taken deliveries of their Mistral overseas, this Mistral delivered to Florida, USA, could just be the first stateside delivery.
It fits then that the Mistral was first spotted in Florida. The Sunshine State could be the perfect place to enjoy droptop motoring in a Bugatti worth $5 million. The Mistral hasn’t been seen in official images with a roof yet, though it is said a clip-in panel is offered.
That’s some serious commitment for a car that’s the world’s fastest roadster. The Mistral was clocked at 282mph at a test track in Germany. That means it blows the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse’s 254mph, the previous holder of the title of fastest open-top production car in the world, right out of the water.
We doubt the owner of this Mistral is going to be testing its top speed out anytime soon. Though the car’s clean and classic blue-on-white spec makes it look right at home on Florida’s streets, as seen through the lens of supercar spotters in Naples, Florida. All said and done, it’s a fitting retirement for the iconic W16 engine, in a fitting locale.
