Carbon-fiber Audi R8 LMS GT3 R16 comes to America

Besides being a modern-day automotive marvel, carbon fiber is also considered a luxury of sorts. This Audi R8 LMS GT3 R16 by GMG Racing is a one-of-a-kind supercar weighing in at 2,800 pounds and sporting a lightweight aluminum frame and a carbon-fiber body. The car will show up in the North American World Challenge GT and was successfully tested at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park. Also, plans to use more carbon fiber and fit a new exhaust system for which the engine will need retuning are being drawn up.

As for now, the car will work as a test bed for components fashioned for Audi R8 customers looking to burn the asphalt on racetracks or on city streets.
