Feadship marks its 75th anniversary with a dazzling fuel-cell superyacht inspired by a diamond. This 246-foot marvel boasts a dynamic crow’s nest, perfect for soaking in those stunning sunset vistas

It’s Feadship’s 75th anniversary, and the Dutch shipyard is celebrating this milestone with the launch of a new 75-meter (246-foot) superyacht concept named C. The “C” doesn’t stand for celebration (or cake) but represents carbon, the element symbolized by the letter C on the periodic table. Carbon forms diamonds, making it a fitting name to commemorate the shipyard’s ‘diamond anniversary,’ marking its founding in 1949. Interestingly, the origins of Feadship trace back a century earlier.

Feadship’s story begins in 1849 with the establishment of the De Vries shipyard in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands. Another notable shipbuilder, Royal Van Lent, also existed in the Netherlands at that time. After World War II, the two yards joined forces with De Voogt Naval Architects to form Feadship in 1949, revolutionizing the world of luxury yachts. The name “Feadship” itself stands for the First Export Association of Dutch Shipbuilders, highlighting this historic alliance.

The yacht celebrating this rich legacy will be unveiled at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. What’s known so far is that C draws inspiration from the design of a diamond. The innovative use of glass accentuates the yacht’s facets, allowing light to penetrate deep into the vessel’s interior, creating a striking effect that gleams like a diamond. This groundbreaking vessel will make waves by following in the footsteps of the pioneering Project 821, drawing 100% of her power from fuel cells running on methanol, complemented by lithium-metal batteries.

Other standout features of the C superyacht concept include a partially enclosed lower deck sea lounge, a stunning beach club with sea-level dining, and a palatial duplex owner’s suite designed for a modern and minimalist aesthetic. For those who appreciate uninterrupted vistas and sunsets, C offers unparalleled views with a dynamic crow’s nest that rises from a secluded observation terrace. The yacht also features a pair of infinity-edge hexagonal pools designed to complement the shapes of its various seating arrangements and atrium.

“There’s nothing rough about this diamond in Feadship’s concept collection,” the shipyard explained. “As with all Feadship concept yachts, C is fully researched and buildable.” After captivating the yachting world with concepts like Breathe in 2010 and Savannah in 2015, C represents a significant leap forward with its futuristic design and sustainable technology. The vessel boasts a normal cruising speed of 14 knots on fuel cells, while a top speed of 17 knots can be achieved with additional battery power. Designed by Ruud Bakker and Tanno Weeda, C will be fully unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show next week.
