Influencer posts a barn find video of his own “abandoned” Ferrari 360 Modena Spider for fun, fools the internet and still goes viral years later

Don’t believe everything you see on the internet, they say. A car enthusiast famous on Instagram and TikTok has just gone viral for a video he uploaded about two years ago. Project Car Addict works on project cars including some very special and rare models, and is a bit of a prankster. Unlike other social media “pranks” that are obviously staged, this particular video of him finding an abandoned Ferraro 360 Modena in a forest looks quite legitimate. The best part is that the video was recently picked up by various automotive news outlets that fell for the whole shtick.

The original post even had an edit to the caption that mentioned that the “abandoned” supercar was his own Ferrari but it looks like that escaped the attention of some people. Including some viewers, who expressed shock and outrage at how someone could abandon a $180,000 Ferrari. An obvious giveaway the second time you watch the video is the fact that the keys were in this abandoned Ferrari, and though the car was out in the snow and the elements, it starts right up. It even sounds to be running healthy!

In case you were wondering, the 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena, like in this video, cost about $135,000 when new. Being of the modern classic era and mass-produced, it hasn’t really appreciated in price. Good examples can be found for $60,000 or so. A 360 Modena Spider with the 6-speed gated manual is considerably rarer and more valuable as a result, with prices going up to $80,000 or more.

The 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 in the Ferrari 360 Modena is one of the greats though — 400 horsepower, 275 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60mph time of 4.5 seconds may not sound like much now but these figures were impressive for over 20 years ago. While some barn finds are incredibly lucky finds – they’re not often left there with the keys in the ignition. It just goes to show that when something’s too good to be true, it usually isn’t.
