McLaren teases a new supercar dubbed ‘650S’, will take on Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

The internet was abuzz with news last year that McLaren is working on two new models codenamed the ‘P13’ and ‘P15’. A heavily camouflaged test mule was sighted while being tested at the Nurburgring last year which had a MP4-12C body shell but was reported to be a P13 prototype. The British marquee has amazingly kept everything under the wraps and there is no information available in the public domain, not even design renders. But McLaren has teased a single image pointing towards a big reveal in store for next month’s Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed the McLaren 650S, the new model is believed to be the P15 which will be slotted between the MP4-12C and the McLaren P1.

Except for the image, McLaren didn’t give out anything more on the new model, but according to the announcement, the 650S is ‘designed and developed to offer the enthusiast driver the ultimate in luxury, engagement and excitement, as well as dramatic yet beautiful styling.’ It is rumored to be powered by the same engine that comes with the 12C and P1, but the 3.8-liter V8 powertrain is reported to be tuned t produce 650hp. We will have to wait till 4th March when McLaren officially unveils the new model at the Geneva Motor Show.
