Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen has received a new special edition model in the form of the new G-Class Edition 550 which is limited to just 200 examples. The German automaker hasn’t divulged a lot of information on it, including the pricing and availability. All that we know about the Edition 550 is from a post on the Mercedes-Benz USA Facebook page, which might mean that it’s exclusively meant to be sold only in the United States. But that’s strange as the company recently stopped taking fresh orders and said the iconic luxury SUV is completely sold out till 2025. In fact, the G-Wagen had set a new global sales record in 2021 with 41,174 deliveries and the manufacturer has been struggling to keep up with the demand.
Coming back to the G-Class Edition 550, it will be available in three new color options: Jupiter Red, Arabian Grey, and Moonlight White. Additionally, the special edition is equipped with a black brush guard and features a bespoke badge with a silhouette of a G-Class climbing a mountain. Inside the cabin is a two-tone Nappa leather upholstery with diamond stitching.
The special edition also gets active multi-contour front seats with active side bolsters and carbon-fiber trim to make the cabin look sporty. The grab handle on the front passenger side is etched with the unique number corresponding to the particular example. The G-Class Edition 550 is based on the G 550 model, which means it gets the 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 that produces 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. We are waiting for Mercedes to reveal more information and its pricing.
