Think big ships; think Oceanco. The Dutch shipbuilder has given the world some floating mammoths like Infinity, Tranquility, Seven Seas, Koru, and more. It is hardly surprising that the yard is now collaborating with Italian studio Mario Biferali Yacht Design Studio on a 150-meter or a 492 foot concept known as Anthos. No ordinary ship, this goliath is a 10,630-GT container ship that the greats will successfully and splendidly convert into a private superyacht in the first of a collection of “post-industrial” designs known as Nacht.
The aim is to convert any merchant ship into a luxury vessel, where the large dimensions don’t become a burden but help redefine minimalism to usher in a new era in design. Anthos is named after the ancient Greek word for “flower.” Hardly flower-like, the ship boasts an extended main deck and a “tower” structure. It is massive, so the owner gets to enjoy a multi-level owner’s apartment that spans three decks. It goes without saying that it offers 360-degree views from the private sundeck.
Extra opulent VIP suites include a separate children’s play area, a dedicated media room, as well as connected kids’ and nanny cabins. The abundance of space permits such luxuries. The foredeck has ample space for a helideck, a sports court, a raised swimming pool, a double sit-up bar, and multiple lounging areas, according to Boat International.
Amenities include a full-beam gym, a double-height sports court, a Pilates and yoga room, a cinema, and a wellness area with a sauna, hammam, beauty salon, and treatment room. Anthos, which looks more like a warship than a willowy flower, can also be repurposed for scientific research, remote work, or philanthropic activities. The yacht also accommodates 54 crew members in 27 cabins.
