After Qatar’s billionaire Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani cruised to the Greek island Skiathos on his $300 million superyacht, the Al-Thani family has now been spotted in Italy. The mighty Al Mirqab journeyed from Greece to Capri, crossing picturesque locales like Sant’Angelo, Forio, Lacco Ameno, and Casamicciola. The 437-foot-long luxury vessel has brought its royal occupants to a place known for its beaches, thermal hot springs, Roman remains, and centuries-old architecture.
As per local media reports, the occupants of Al Mirqab boarded a tender to enjoy an aperitif at the famed Regina Isabella Hotel. It is the only 5-star hotel in Ischia and boasts a private pier, private beaches, three bars, and three restaurants managed by Michelin-star Executive Chef Pasquale Palamaro, along with thermal baths and much more. An icon of Ischia since the 1950s, this opulent property is frequented by celebrities like Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Maria Callas, Charles Boyer, Clark Gable, and William Holden.
Sheikh Al Thani is a guest par excellence who heads the board of the Qatar Investment Authority, which has assets over $600 billion and boasts stakes in Barclays, Sainsbury’s, Harrods, Walt Disney, and London’s iconic The Shard among others.
His megayacht Al Mirqab is nothing less than a floating five-star resort. The incredible 437-footer is a majestic family yacht launched by Peterswerft-Kusch. Doyens like Tim Heywood and Andrew Winch have shaped the Goliath, while the predictably extravagant interiors are done by Andrew Winch.
Al Mirqab, one of the largest superyachts in the world, can accommodate 52 guests and 60 crew. It has an indoor swimming pool for privacy, a large gym, a sauna, a hairdressing salon, and a pirate-themed underwater viewing room. The affluent Al Thani family spent a week in Skiathos, Greece and is now making the most of idyllic Ischia. It looks like no one but royals know how to make the most of a beautiful place in beautiful vessels.
