An American couple turned a Rolls-Royce Spectre into a one-of-one love letter to their dog, with 180-piece marquetry in 22 shades, a rose gold Spirit of Ecstasy, and a custom Beautiful Bailey paint that glows like a retriever’s ear.

In the world of luxury, extravagance often takes forms that outsiders can barely imagine. The latest example comes from the United States, where a millionaire couple has had a Rolls-Royce Spectre built entirely as a tribute to their beloved dog. Far from a simple nod to their Labrador-Golden Retriever mix named Bailey, the luxury EV has been transformed into a rolling shrine of devotion, crafted with a level of detail that only Rolls-Royce’s Bespoke program could deliver.

The commission, known officially as Spectre Bailey, was curated through Rolls-Royce’s Private Office in New York, an invitation-only space where clients dream up their most personal creations. While bespoke cars typically feature unusual colors or exotic leathers, this one-of-one project goes far beyond. It is a car where paw prints, rose gold accents, and a painstakingly handcrafted portrait of Bailey himself define the atmosphere. It is less a coupe and more a family heirloom on wheels.

The interior of Spectre Bailey tells the story most vividly. Between the rear seats sits a marquetry portrait of the dog, constructed from over 180 pieces of veneer in 22 different shades. Each sliver of wood was cut, shaped, and assembled over four months, with the artisans even experimenting with materials Rolls-Royce had never used before. Bailey’s tongue alone required four separate veneers, chosen for their natural variations in color.

Matching the craftsmanship is the leather scheme, which echoes the tones of the dog’s fur. Moccasin and Crème Light dominate, offset by Dark Spice and Casden Tan, with High Gloss Royal Walnut veneer completing the picture. Paw prints appear as playful signatures, etched into rose gold treadplates and even worked into the dashboard trim.

On the outside, the Spectre wears a color that could only be called Beautiful Bailey, a shimmering paint mixed to capture the glow of fur on the dog’s ear. It pairs with Crystal Fusion for a two-tone effect that changes subtly with the light. A hand-painted coachline runs along the side, topped with a paw print rendered in rose gold, while the Spirit of Ecstasy also gleams in the same precious metal. The result is an electric Rolls-Royce Spectre that, beneath its 577-horsepower drivetrain, has been transformed into a tribute car like no other.

For the couple, the commission was never about excess but about memory. In their words, it is a joyful tribute to a cherished companion, something that will remind them of Bailey for decades to come. Yet, for observers, it is also a symbol of just how far luxury personalization can go when love and wealth intersect.

Interestingly, this devotion to pets has echoes on the seas. Another mystery American billionaire commissioned the 261-foot eco-friendly explorer yacht Valor, designed with special features to accommodate his three golden retrievers. Whether on land or water, some fortunes are clearly measured by the loyalty of dogs and the lengths their owners will go to celebrate them.
