Ferrari hates mods. As simple as that. Ferrari doesn’t like customers messing with its cars. Maranello especially dislikes distasteful modifications to what it views as works of art straight from the factory. The company has even gone so far as to ban Ferrari owners from future Ferrari ownership if it doesn’t like something as simple as a wrap on the car. Understandably, when YouTube channel DailyDriven Exotics took their highly-modified, 1,300 horsepower Ferrari F12 drift car back to a Ferrari dealership, tensions were high.
For one, this particular Ferrari F12 is worth over $700,000 in mods and labour, or about five times what most F12s of the same vintage are worth currently. Fortunately for the Daily Driven Exotics team, this is one modified Ferrari that firmly falls in the tasteful category. Though it was built as a racecar, specifically to near-Formula Drift spec, the visual mods to the car have been kept extremely tasteful.
Apart from the twin turbos peeking out from under the F12’s long hood, that is. Considering the car runs on E90 and it costs over $500 to run it for even short distances, the car is put on a trailer and sent to its destination: one of Ferrari’s most iconic dealerships in North America.
At Ferrari Newport, they get a very different reaction than what they expected. Everyone from dealership employees and die-hard Ferrari purists are head-over-heels fascinated with the car. Impressed by the high levels of craftsmanship, one employee even gives them a rough evaluation of the car. Usually, highly modified supercars tend to lose their value, but the employee figures that the car’s still worth $350,000+ easily.
While this isn’t indicative of what Maranello itself would think of such a highly modified Ferrari, it does make one wonder if we’d ever see factory support for tuners who get into Ferraris. Ultimately, the more cool Ferrari builds that are out there, the better for the brand.
