Gerald Charles joins hands with Ducati to release a limited edition Maestro timepiece to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Ducati 916 motorcycle

Swiss watch brand Gerald Charles has collaborated with Ducati to introduce a limited edition timepiece that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the iconic Ducati 916 motorcycle. Called the Maestro 4.0 Ducati 30° Anniversario 916, the exclusive wristwatch features the watchmaker’s signature Maestro case, vulcanized rubber strap, and unique design details inspired by the beautiful Ducati motorcycle. Both brands continue to preserve and build upon the artistic heritage left behind by their former designer, Gérald Genta and Massimo Tamburini. The limited edition timepiece pays tribute to the two legendary individuals by perfectly capturing distinct styling approaches. The Maestro 4.0 also seemlessly blends Gerald Charles’ horological expertise with Ducati’s enduring legacy.

“We are very proud of the result of this collaboration with Gerald Charles,” said Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO. “Together, we present an extraordinary watch that pays homage to an authentic icon like the Ducati 916. The joint work of the Design Centers began with a precise idea in mind and did not stop in the face of technical and design complexities. This approach adds further value to a high-quality object that, from the first glance, reflects the values shared by Ducati and Gerald Charles: passion, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.”

The celebratory timepiece is the first one from Gerald Charles in over 13 years to feature the jumping hour complication – one of the most iconic complications of the company’s founder. This particular piece is an evolution of the Gerald Charles jumping hours Maestro 39 that went out of production in 2011. The Maestro 4.0 boasts a matt black ceramic bezel on a marbled-black Carbon Forged case body, along with a Grade 5 Titanium crown, caseback, and buckle. These materials are also used in the motorcycle world for being super light and resistant, while the racetrack asphalt inspires the watch’s finish. Furthermore, the special case construction guarantees water resistance to 100 mt and a 5G shock resistance.

The hour markers and the vulcanized rubber strap are in Ruby red as a tribute to Ducati’s signature color. Additionally, at the center of the dial is a golden wheel, which has been added as a subtle nod to the Ducati 916’s instantly recognizable three-spoke alloy wheel. The Maestro 4.0 is powered by an in-house, proprietary developed new jumping hours caliber, Ref. GCA 3002JH. The movement supports a two-level dial with the jumping hours disk on top. The 12-hour markers are in vivid red and filled with red SuperLuminova. Only 250 examples of the Maestro 4.0 Ducati 30° Anniversario 916 will be produced, each priced at $3,300. The limited edition timepiece is now available for pre-order.
