Girard-Perregaux has released a limited-edition Aston Martin F1 watch that features a bespoke case and strap made from reclaimed carbon fiber

The partnership between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin that began in early 2021 has spawned a new limited edition timepiece. Called the Laureato Absolute Chronograph AMF1 Edition, it’s the first collaborative timepiece that’s specifically is inspired by the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team. Interestingly, it comes hot on the heels of the first-ever team watch for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team that was released by IWC Schaffhausen just a few days ago. What makes the new Girard-Perregaux watch special is the use of two new carbon composite materials made from carbon fiber reclaimed from the team’s 2021 race cars. The pair of cutting-edge materials not only help the limited-edition look stunning but offer functional advantages.

The highlight of the Laureato Absolute Chronograph AMF1 Edition is its avant-garde 4mm case that is made from a blend of titanium powder, tinted resin, and reclaimed carbon fiber. The cutting-edge material is made using a high-tech manufacturing process and is extremely robust, lightweight, and more ductile than steel. The black PVD titanium pushers feature engraved strips accented by Aston Martin’s signature lime green and British racing green hues. It’s also the first-ever Laureato Absolute Chronograph model to be fitted with a transparent sapphire caseback that features the Aston Martin branding along with a printed team logo.

The dial features AM’s signature color scheme. The main dial is rendered in British racing green and features a sunburst finish along with an engraved diamond pattern crosshatch texture which is inspired by the automaker’s original logo. The chronograph minutes hand and the central chronograph seconds are both in vibrant lime green. Housed inside the case is the manufacture GP03300-1058 automatic chronograph movement that offers a power reserve of 46 hours. Another novelty of the limited-edition watch is its unique strap made from a proprietary material. The rubber alloy also uses reclaimed carbon fiber which is blended with FKM rubber. Girard-Perregaux has said it will make only 306 examples of the watch which is available now through authorized dealers for $27,800.
