Hollywood actor and entrepreneur Mark Wahlberg is well-known for his love for luxury watches, which is often showcased through his extensive personal collection of rare and collectible watches as well as his brand endorsements. A true timepiece connoisseur, Wahlberg continuously keeps expanding his watch collection by adding new luxury watches as they hit the market. The newest to join his collection is a very special Rolex timepiece which he gleefully showed off in a pair of videos recently uploaded on Instagram. While both the videos are about ultra-cool sneakers and were uploaded to promote the actor’s Municipal brand, watch aficionados quickly spotted the glorious Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Celebrating 100 Years of Speed Wahlberg’s wrist.
The actor begins one of the videos by saying: “When it rains, it pours…and no, I’m not talking about the Le Mans.” That’s some flex, even for a Hollywood A-lister considering how rare the timepiece is. Earlier this year, Rolex announced a special version of the modern Daytona in honor of the 100th year of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The timepiece features a reverse panda dial, a special black ceramic tachymeter scale that features the “100” indication in red, and is powered by the caliber 4132 movement, which allows the chronograph function to count to 24 hours instead of just 12. While Role created an engraved version of the timepiece to be presented to the winners of this year’s race, the Swiss watchmaker also introduced the Ref. 126529LN as part of the line-up. The only difference between the two is that the regular version has a display caseback instead of an engraved solid caseback. While the new 126529LN carries a price tag of $51,400, the timepiece is almost unobtainable thanks to its crazy demand.
