It wasn’t Katy Perry or even Lauren Sánchez, but a film producer on the historic Blue Origin flight who wore the most expensive watch into zero gravity. The ultra‑complicated $325,000 timepiece has miniature planets that mechanically rotate around the Sun

The first all-female crew journeyed to the Kármán line and back aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard spaceflight. The six-member team included pop icon Katy Perry, journalist Gayle King, former NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, scientist Amanda Nguyen, philanthropist Lauren Sánchez, and film producer Kerianne Flynn. Each woman carried an item of personal significance, Perry brought a daisy in honor of her daughter, Daisy; Sánchez carried a stuffed toy of Flynn; Bowe took a flag; King brought personal photographs; and Flynn carried a film reel.

While all that was sweet and sentimental, one member made a dazzling style statement in zero gravity that simply couldn’t go unnoticed, Kerianne Flynn wore the stunning $325,000 Lady Arpels Planétarium watch. Unveiled at SIHH 2018, the 38mm timepiece became a part of this historic journey as these six achievers reached new heights, quite literally.

Flynn’s cosmic timepiece was also a perfect visual match for the crew’s sleek blue astronaut uniforms tailored by powerhouse duo Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, co-founders of Monse and creative directors at Oscar de la Renta. This celestial ballet on her wrist was simply spellbinding, and here’s why it deserves a closer look.

The out-of-this-world $325,000 Lady Arpels Planétarium-

Their spaceflight may have lasted only 11 minutes, but the magic of space lives on in this exquisite 38mm white gold watch from Van Cleef & Arpels’ Poetic Complications collection. The case features an astronomical complication that faithfully represents the orbits of Mercury, Venus, Earth, and the Moon around a central Sun. Each celestial body moves at its actual orbital speed, powered by an automatic movement developed in collaboration with Dutch master watchmaker Christiaan Van der Klaauw.

Sounds incredible, right? It’s like staying connected to space without ever leaving Earth, and in Flynn’s case, she gets the best of both worlds. The miniature planets glow against a deep blue aventurine dial and are crafted from pink mother-of-pearl, enamel, and turquoise, with diamond-set accents. At the center lies the Sun, while time is playfully indicated by a shooting star rotating along the outermost ring. A masterpiece that transcends the bounds of Earth, it’s finished with dazzling diamonds and offered with either a blue alligator strap or a bracelet.
