Omega and the Olympics are a match as synonymous as wine and cheese — the Swiss watchmaker has been supporting the Summer Games since 1932 as the event’s official timekeeper. To commemorate the 100-day mark from when the Olympic torch is lit, Omega has released the Speedmaster Chronoscope Paris 2024 Edition, available in Moonshine Gold or steel cases with two options for straps each.
It’s worth remembering that Omega released the stunning Seamaster Diver Olympic Games Paris 2024 Edition last year, with a Moonshine Gold dive scale that was easily the standout of the watch. Moving the theme forward, both these Speedmaster Chronoscope editions feature the same dial in the black, white and gold colors of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Specifically, the main dial is finished in an opaline color, the circular grained sub-dials are in black, the numerals are made of Moonshine Gold, while the hands are merely finished with Omega’s take on gold. The series’ tachymeter, telemeter and pulsometer scales carry over at the center of the dial.
The case size at 43mm is identical to the 2021 launch models, but the Speedmaster Chronoscope 2024 Paris Editions eschew a see-through caseback for an engraved special edition caseback. Rest assured, the movement continues to the hand-wound 9908 or 9909 calibers, depending on whether you opt for a stainless or gold model. There are more subtle differences between the two models — the bezel is ceramic on the Moonshine Gold variant, and anodized aluminum on the steel one.
The Speedmaster Chronoscope Paris 2024 editions represent a slightly different take on the classic Speedmaster look, one that’s even more special on account of their celebration of the greatest sporting even in the world.
