Hello there! Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor’s low-mileage and largely original 1972 Porsche 911T Targa is up for grabs.

If you consider yourself a big-time Star Wars fan, consider having a look at this 1972 Porsche 911T, which is being auctioned by Bring a Trailer. Confused? Well, it might not be a Star Wars movie prop, but its owner is none other than Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, Ewan McGregor – how about that? The Scottish actor is a known gearhead, with his collection including a vintage 1960s Mustang, a prewar Wolseley 10/40, and even a 1954 Volkswagen Beetle converted to an EV. But he’s better known for his motorcycle adventures, having made several trans-continental road trips with fellow biker Charley Boorman. After owning this beautiful 911 Targa for three years, McGregor is ready to part ways with it.

This particular Porsche was purchased by the original owner on May 4, 1972, which is a funny coincidence considering the date (May the Fourth) is sacred for all Star Wars fans. The sports car was driven till 1979, racking up a little over 36,000 miles on the odometer. According to the listing, the Targa was then put into storage, where it remained unused till 2019 before being acquired by Obi-Wan a year later. Obviously, the classic 911 required a lot of maintenance work, having stayed in storage for four decades.

After purchasing the 911, McGregor had the sports car thoroughly serviced at a Porsche Classic center. A lot of work was done on the car, including the installation of a timing chain update kit and a Porsche Classic radio, along with performing a valve adjustment, resealing the transmission, and replacing the clutch, flywheel, shifter bushings, various engine oil seals, and ignition components. Except for tiny upgrades made to the German sports car, it’s still largely original, which further elevates its desirability.

Furthermore, McGregor has only added 2000 miles on the odometer. With four days left for the online auction to end, the highest bid on the 911 Targa has already crossed $80,000, but we expect the final price to be much higher.
