When Ferrari handed Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay a blank canvas and a color chart, nobody expected him to reach past the reds and yellows and land on Signal Green from the Porsche catalog. But that is exactly what he did, and the result is the only one of 499 LaFerraris built in that shade, with under 7,500 miles on the clock.
It heads to the block at RM Sotheby’s Monaco sale, with a value estimated between $4.6 million and $5.2 million. The spec is ridiculously cool. The green paint was Jay Kay’s deliberate nod to the Italian tricolour, red calipers completing the flag.
Inside, ‘Jamiroquai’ is etched into the carbon fibre at the base of the steering wheel, green leather runs throughout, and even the luggage set matches.
A 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 pairs with Ferrari’s HY-KERS hybrid system for a combined 963 horsepower, sent through a 7-speed dual-clutch to the rear wheels. While rivals leaned on turbos and all-wheel drive, Ferrari stayed atmospheric and rear-wheel driven. It’s the purist’s pick from the Holy Trinity, without question. The high-voltage battery was replaced in 2023, and a fresh annual service was completed in 2026. It now shows just 7,485 miles.
Jay Kay’s relationship with cars runs deeper than most musicians’ relationships with their instruments. His collection, estimated to be worth around $50 million, spans over 100 cars. The highlights include an Enzo, an F40 he named Miss Whiplash, an F50, a Ferrari 275 GTB, a Lamborghini Miura, and a Diablo SE30, and more recently, a one-of-100 Gordon Murray Automotive T.50.
The cars have never just sat in a garage, either. The music video for “Cosmic Girl” is essentially a four-minute supercar chase, featuring the Diablo and two Ferraris tearing through Spain, with the Lambo famously having to be replaced after an incident during shipping. His black Enzo even got its own song, Black Devil Car, off the Dynamite album.
As for the Signal Green LaFerrari, he sold it in 2019 for roughly double what he paid. The current owner, now ready to let it go at auction, has kept it in exceptional shape. Whoever buys it next is getting something truly one-of-a-kind.
