Centibillionaire Jeff Bezos, the world’s third richest man, has surprised the world, not with his hedonistic habits but the opposite. The Amazon boss was spotted at Miami’s hot spot, Carbone, on Sunday with his lady love for company. They astonished onlookers at the famed Greenwich Village eatery by ordering wine by the glass. It didn’t end there; the owner of the $500 million sailing superyacht Koru chose to be seated in the main dining room, like regular guests. This lack of haughtiness and insolence, combined with being practical and asking for only what he needed and not what he could afford, came as a shock to those around him.
“They sat in the middle of the restaurant, where everyone could see them,” said a spy, according to PageSix. He continued, “We heard the Amazon boss didn’t opt for a magnum of Screaming Eagle with a Cristal chaser. Despite their wealth, they ordered wine by the glass,” remarked the startled onlooker. Well, if we’re talking about what Bezos could buy at the restaurant with his $170 billion fortune, then ideally, he could purchase the restaurant itself. He set the right example by showing that just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
If Lauren Sanchez and her soon-to-be husband Jeff wanted to enjoy a laid-back, frill-free afternoon, then they did so unabashedly. The well-dressed couple were exploring Miami’s art scene and admiring the art installations on the beach. Miami is now their home, and the Amazon founder and former TV anchor were seen enjoying the Art Basel Miami Beach last week with Sanchez’s 22-year-old son, Nikko, whom she shares with her ex and former NFL star Tony Gonzalez.
Bezos recently bought two homes in the city’s Indian Creek area for approximately $147 million and is apparently also on the lookout for a third home in the sunny city till the Billionaire Bunker home takes shape. The two adjacent waterfront estates sit on a 5-acre lot together. The second $79 million property features seven bedrooms, a wine cellar, hosting salon, a fireplace room, a movie theater, a heated swimming pool, and a cabana house.
Tours of the Art Basel exhibition could help them select incredible art installations for their upcoming multi-million dollar estate. It seems that every time Bezos and his partner visit a restaurant, they set tongues wagging, and it’s certainly not for the food. The centibillionaire couple was recently spotted at the popular Nobu in Malibu on a dinner date. During this outing, the stunning helicopter pilot’s delicate ‘Mrs. B’ necklace created quite a stir. It appears that the small details become harder to overlook when they involve high-profile individuals.
