Saying no to Jenny from the Block is something one just doesn’t do (unless you’re Ben Affleck), but someone unknowingly did, and is probably regretting it. Picture this: American superstar Jennifer Lopez walking down the buzzing streets of Istanbul, looking pretty as a peach in a pink co-ord, hair flowing. She stops at the Chanel store, ready to splurge some of her hard-earned money, only to be refused.

The security guard at the Chanel store denied her entry, stating, “We’re full.” It’s possible he didn’t recognize her or was simply following company policy. On the other hand, the singer, who once said “Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” showed that kindness doesn’t either, politely responding, “OK, no problem,” before moving on.

You’d expect a VVIP like Jennifer Lopez to throw her weight around or turn up the diva dial, but she didn’t need to. Instead, she let her actions speak louder than words, heading straight to luxury boutiques like Celine and Beymen, where she spent the next three hours shopping and splurging tens of thousands of dollars, according to Patronlar Dunyasi.

The 56-year-old spent hours on a shopping spree ahead of her concert the next day at Yenikapı Festival Park. Chanel’s executives must’ve realized who they’d turned away, because the same Chanel security guard later approached Lopez and invited her into the store. Only this time, she was probably full of shopping, and returned the favor by turning them down.

Lopez has often been spotted carrying a number of classic Chanel pieces and Hermes handbags, so missing out this time must’ve stung a little, for Chanel, not her. As for Chanel, the brand follows the strict entry policies typical of hard-luxury boutiques, running on capacity or appointment systems for crowd control and loss prevention. Even Bethenny Frankel was recently kept out of a Chanel store in Chicago for not having an appointment.
Maybe next time, Lopez will take one and get her hands on the latest Chanel accessory to keep her ivory Chanel flap some stylish company.
