The one relationship in Johnny Depp’s life that seems to be going strong is the one with Dior. The Hollywood A-lister just signed the biggest men’s fragrance deal ever by becoming the face of Dior Sauvage for three more years. The Pirates of the Caribbean star will take home a whopping $20 million. The LVMH brand has stood by the 59-year-old actor through thick and thin as Depp has been the face of Dior Sauvage since 2015. The fragrance was anyway selling like hotcakes in 2021, before Depp’s high-profile defamation case.
Still, after the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation trial in 2022, the first-half turnover of the perfume and cosmetics division of parent company LVMH grew by 13% on an organic basis to $3.70 billion per BoF.
Even the world’s richest man and LVMH boss, Bernard Arnault, credited “the image of Johnny Depp” as one of the main reasons why Dior Sauvage has been “a remarkable success.” Depp’s $20 million deal is enormous, as Robert Pattinson raked in a $12 million contract for Dior Homme. Brad Pitt took home $7 million to promote Chanel No. 5. It is the norm for A-listers with fragrance deals to make around $2 million-$4 million per year, making $20 million such a leap.
