Mark Zuckerberg’s daughters are an extension of the tech tycoon to such an extent that they’re already clear on their tech goals. The vice chair of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative shared that ten-year-old Max, who inspired the 99% pledge, is now “vibecoding” and could be a tech titan in the making. “She’s quite limited, because Mom doesn’t let her build things that are open to the internet,” Chan told Colossus. “Like, she wanted to build a dating site. That was a no.” The mom-of-three explained, “She just has a desire to build things that is innate, that we didn’t teach her. It just came. She’s delighted by the idea of bringing something into the world.”

While most ordinary parent-child quality time revolves around parks, beaches, the mall or toy stores, the Zuckerberg kids are of a different breed. Despite their young ages, they are already familiar with Replit, Google Docs, Kano, Scratch, robots, 3D printing and Meta AI illustration. In his February 2022 Lex Fridman interview, Zuckerberg shared that he himself was teaching his daughters basic coding with Scratch, which uses blocks that children connect to make stories, games, and animations. Only last year, the world’s fifth richest man, worth $216 billion, told The Rundown AI how he enjoyed making robots with his daughters.

Together the family designs, 3D-prints their shells, and rely on Raspberry Pi or Jetson hardware to run language models. Clearly, their parenting style is not about talking the talk but leading by example. Not only is ten-year-old Max walking down the same path as her father, but his second-born daughter, August, is also so fixated on her Minecraft and Scratch projects that she wakes up early to retrieve her tablet and get going.

She was the brainchild behind The Mermaid Crystal, made using Meta AI supplying illustrations and a trailer. The power couple may have pledged 99% of their Facebook shares to philanthropy, saying their daughters won’t inherit their wealth. But such promising young minds the Chan Zuckerberg girls are evidently poised to make names and fortunes of their own. A future stepping stone may be a dating site that was once vetoed, after years of typing frustrations and bedtime boundaries.
Note: At the time of writing, Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg was worth $216 billion as reported by Forbes.
